Frequently asked questions
Our answer on this one is always an unequivocal YES!
Not only does a quality conversion - like both our Trouvaille Classique and Actif models - hold value incredibly well for resale, these cleverly-designed compact vans can double as a second vehicle. This means you won't have to own a separate vehicle for everyday use, and you won't have to tax and insure an extra vehicle.
Your lifestyle, what you'd like to use the van for, and where you'll be storing it are the most important considerations here. Read here about large versus compact and touring versus adventure base .
Whilst we're not able to give financial advice, there are options out there for you, so you don't have to wait for retirement to follow your dreams!
Imagine waking up on an unexpectedly sunny Saturday and deciding to hop in your van and head to the beach for the weekend. With nothing more than a bag of clothes to organise, you'll be taking your accommodation with you, and within a couple of hours you could be taking your paddle boards off the roof and exploring the coast. This is just one example of the freedom a campervan gives you – read more examples here
Many first timers wonder this, because surely it can’t be all that comfortable to sleep in what’s basically a big car, can it?!
Well, yes, it really can! Our vans have a 120cm bed in the Actif, 130cm in the Classique, which is a really generous size for a compact van. We’ve included handy USB ports and lights in the sleeping area, so you have everything you need to hand when it’s bedtime. And the way we’ve positioned the bed also means that you can still access the fridge and sit at the table while the bed is made up. Pop a topper on if needed (for some this makes it an even more luxurious experience), make the most of the different reclining positions if you like to read before sleeping, and finally just use the bedside lever to easily fully recline ready to sleep the night away!
No certainly not – our clients come from far and wide. They recognise us as a quality brand and are willing to travel from as far as Northern Ireland ,Devon and Edinburgh for example to source the campervan of their dreams. We also benefit from having many contacts in different areas of the country where you can take your campervan should an issue arise to remove any hassle factor you may be worried about, and what’s more we arrange all of this for you!
We work with a motorhome valuation service so that we can help you to sell yours at the best price possible and also as quickly as possible. If you want to sell privately then we can also offer advice on how best to sell your campervan.
Yes we do also offer bespoke conversions. See our bespoke web page for more info: Bespoke Conversions

General Questions

We specialise in compact vans, meaning that our campers are the same size as everyday vehicles, can be stored on a standard driveway, and are as easy to drive and manoeuvre as your average family car. We have both pop top and high top editions.
A pop top is available on our Trouvaille Classique, Trouvaille Actif and Micro Camper models. A pop top is an elevating roof which provides a spacious roof bed. You drive with the pop top down and once you are stationary you can pop the top to give more space and light and also access the roof sleeping space via a ladder. We provide a safety net with the roof bed. It is easy to elevate the pop top roof as It utilises a roof canvas which makes it tentlike, and if you are worried about it being a cooler option you can protect against the elements by using a pop top external thermal wrap. On the Actif the roof canvas comes with zip out as standard and is an optional extra on the Classique.
A high top is available on our Trouvaille Classique and Trouvaille Actif models. The high top uses a fibre glass roof to give excellent headroom with a skylight to ensure maximum light. It provides additional storage by utilising the lower roof area and over cab space. Without the need to lift or lower the roof you are always ready to go! As there’s no roof canvas this option is warmer and your camper will be granted DVLA status. Click here for more info High Top Editions

One of the best things about our Trouvaille campervans is we have a really wide range of interior options for you to choose from. We’ve come up with some combinations of colours and fabrics that work well together, but you’re also welcome to take us up on our bespoke interior service, where we work together to come up with an interior that’s customised to your tastes and needs.
We also offer many extras as standard that other companies do not always include – however we recognise that many of you are buying your forever ‘van and may wish to add in some more luxuries, so we have compiled an extensive range from which you can choose
Many extras can also be retro-fitted. You may want to go away and use your campervan first and then come back to us once you understand your requirements better. We are constantly updating our extras too so it may be that you see something you really fancy after you have purchased. It’s very simple – book in and we will fit these for you whilst you wait, or go off to Meadowhall for a spot of shopping!
Orange Campers is a family run company and it was set up by Richard who has over 20 years experience of building campervans. He has a real passion for all things campervan as you will know if you chat to him or watch him on Youtube!
His wife Sonya manages the sales and marketing and general running of the business. Read here for more info on the owners:

Richard’s daughter Jessica works on the CNC machine and heads up the admin and procurement side of things.
In the workshop we have a team of 4 highly experienced coachbuilders – John, Jordan, Andy and Mark. Please read our blog here for more info: The Team | Orange Campers
We use only the highest quality materials and also the most innovative design to ensure that your campervan stands the test of time. We make campervans that are highly practical and long lasting. Examples of this include the Aquaclean upholstery that we insist on using on our upholstery in the Classique. Our mottos is ‘It’s the little things that count’. We have slept in our campervans, taken them on holiday, and used them with our kids so we know and understand exactly what works and what doesn’t.
Our customers will tell you that our after-sales service is second to none! We are a small family company and we pride ourselves on giving you a thorough and excellent service from ordering, through to buying, and eventually becoming owners. We do not leave you high and dry once you have bought your campervan, and we are always on hand to advise and help out should you forget any aspect of your handover or encounter a problem. We also stick by our 3 year conversion warranty and endeavour to resolve any faults as quickly as possible.
We also offer annual habitation checks to all of our customers – a great way of ensuring you keep your campervan in tip top condition Habitation Checks
Unlike many other converters we offer a three year conversion warranty on all of our campervan builds, which shows that we believe in the quality that we are producing. Another great reason to buy from Orange!
The members’ group is a wonderful forum where Trouvaille owners can share information, tips and travel pictures. It’s reserved exclusively for those who have bought one of our campervans and it works very well!
It’s a 2 night event at a campsite in the Peak District where Trouvaille Owners get the chance to eat dinner together in a pub and then to share a BBQ and a campfire the following day, with some nice walks and relaxing in-between. A fantastic chance to chat to the owners and again to share tips and travel stories. It’s an absolutely lovely event and a nice exclusive perk of being a Trouvaille owner. All things Orange
If you're ready to invest in your Orange Camper's Trouvaille, we have two models for you to choose from:
Our original Trouvaille Classique, and our newer addition, the Trouvaille Actif.
To get the ball rolling, just get in touch and we'll set up a time to discuss the process - which you can also learn all about by clicking here.
Usually between 3 and 4 weeks for a Trouvaille Actif and Classique and approximately 2 weeks for a Micro Camper
We take a £5,000 deposit on all build slots. If your vehicle is in the country or a stock vehicle we will then require a 75% payment prior to starting your build. The rest of your payment will be taken 2 weeks prior to handover.
We don’t accept credit card payments on vehicles. We accept online bank transfers which you may need to make in instalments due to account limits. Alternatively you can make one payment in person at your local branch.
Once your second payment is made the vehicle will be registered to your chosen name and address.
No, your vehicle will be covered immediately under our very comprehensive insurance policy, and is not required to be insured until you collect.
We recommend safeguard insurance. We are a recognised converter on their website making it convenient for you to to get a quote from them.
No, once your payment has registered on our system we will send you an up to date statement showing your new balance.
If you would like progress photos we are able to send you one at the beginning , mid way and towards the end of your build, however many people like to wait for their handover to see their finished campervan! We will also update you by email along the way with your campervan progress.
The Buying Process

On your handover day we will book a slot for anytime between 10am – 1pm
No sorry, we only offer handovers Monday to Friday 10am – 1pm.
Approximately 2 hours. It is a very comprehensive run through from Richard.
We don’t confirm handovers until your van is fully built and valeted, this avoids any complications due to certain factors being out of our control e.g paint scheduling , parts delay etc. We will give you an unconfirmed handover date as a rough guide, and will confirm ASAP once your vehicle is ready to be valeted. We advise you not to book a holiday in your campervan or to book transport to collect until you receive your confirmed handover date.
You will need to ensure you have your insurance policy in place. Also, if buying a nearly new/second-hand vehicle you will need to tax your vehicle before driving away. We can help you do this on collection if needed. If you are buying a brand new campervan then your vehicle will be taxed for you.
The closest train station is Rotherham train station, which is under a 5-minute walk away from our workshop. If you are unable to get a train to Rotherham, Meadowhall train station is the next closest with around a 5-minute drive from our workshop.
Yes you can add most extras to your vehicle at any point before your handover.
There are plenty of local hotels around Rotherham/Sheffield. We also have Meadowhall nearby, plus many other attractions including the Peak District slightly further afield. For further info read our blog!
A lot of our customers have chosen to stay nearby at Rother Valley campsite after their handover to save driving back all in one day. Other clients head into the Peak District quite often to Edale.
A comprehensive tour of your campervan with Richard, plus a handover pack which includes all installation manuals, helpful if you need to remind yourself of how they work. Your build specification, invoice, and conversion certificate will also be included.
We have a comprehensive library of videos on our Youtube Channel which we are adding to all of the time. If there is nothing relevant on here then please do give us a call or pop an email across. Our team is more than happy to help.
Yes we can deliver your campervan for a charge, and do an online handover if needed. However, we do recommend a handover in person if possible.
No, we will activate your tracker and give your details to moving intelligence. They will then be in touch to see if you would like to set up a subscription. This isn’t compulsory and you can still track your vehicle once a day without a subscription.
Yes, all of our second hand vehicles are serviced and have a year’s mot on for collection.
If your vehicle is second-hand and no longer has any warranty remaining from the dealership (Peugeot, Fiat etc) we highly recommend an aftermarket warranty with engineer insurance and aftercare. This gives you peace of mind and covers your vehicle for many different repairs if needed. There are a few packages available depending on the level of cover you prefer. Please enquire for further details
