Job Overview

​

A Woodworking CNC Operator is responsible for operating computer numerical control (CNC) machinery to produce precision wood components and furniture parts.

​

This role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety in a manufacturing environment.

​​

Main Duties and Responsibilities

​

  • Set up, programme, and operate CNC machinery for woodworking tasks, including cutting, shaping, and finishing wood components.

  • Full training provided

  • Select appropriate tools, machine settings, and raw materials for each job.

  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as needed to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

  • Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines and related equipment.

  • Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring they meet specified tolerances and standards.

  • Document production details and report any issues or defects to supervisors.

  • Comply with health and safety regulations and maintain a tidy, organised workspace.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, including designers, engineers, and other workshop staff, as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

​

  • Proven experience operating CNC machinery within a woodworking or manufacturing environment preferred but not essential

  • Strong understanding of woodworking processes, materials, and finishing techniques.

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Understanding of workplace safety practices and procedures.

  • NVQ Level 2 or above in Carpentry, Joinery, or a related field is desirable.

Working Conditions

​

  • Workshop or factory environment with exposure to wood dust, noise, and

  • machinery. We have recently installed a silent air compressor to reduce this noise to a minimum.

  • Standard working hours, with occasional overtime as required.

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.

  • On-site parking
