THOUGHTS FROM THE WORKSHOP

Eight Countries, One 'Van: Love Your Campervan Day 2025 Round-Up

Have you ever found yourself halfway through a brew, staring out at the countryside and thinking, “Hang on, why isn’t there a day for us lot who love our campervans?”

Well… now there is!

We couldn’t find one, so we only went and made our own.

And on Friday 30th May, the very first Love Your Campervan Day was born – a proper celebration of everything that makes van life so magical.

Whether it’s the freedom to go where you please, the fun of cooking beans on toast in the middle of nowhere, or the joy of waking up to misty views out the back doors, it’s all about the little moments that make a big difference.

And wow – what a day it was! 🧡

On the day

Across our socials, we shared your amazing photos and stories, and we even had a fun Facebook Live from Richard, who chatted all things campervans, what he loves most about them, and what makes the Orange family so special.

Some of the team got involved too – plus there may have been a few campervan-themed cupcakes flying around the workshop (it’d be rude not to, really).

The response blew us away – from campsite snaps to stunning off-grid adventures, we had some incredible entries to our photo competition.

We’re buzzing that so many of you joined in and made the first ever Love Your Campervan Day one to remember.

Let’s just say… same time next year? 😉

Our incredible winners

We ran a fun photo competition to mark the occasion, with four categories:

🏕 Best Campsite Experience

🌲 Best Off-Grid Experience

🌄 Most Scenic Spot

🚐 Best Road Trip

Here are your winners:

🏆 Best Road Trip – Paul & Kathryn Embley

Our main prize went to Paul and Kathryn Embley – and their epic eight-country road trip in their beloved campervan Little Blue absolutely deserved it! They took on the Balkans with their trusty companion Skye the dog and clocked up nearly 4,000 miles over five weeks.

Their journey took them through the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Belgium – with each destination offering a new adventure.

Here’s a peek into their unforgettable trip:

“We got the ferry from Poole to Rotterdam, then drove through the Netherlands and Germany into Austria. After two nights there, we headed to Slovenia for the Julian Alps – stunning, but we had three solid days of rain around Lake Bled and had to move campsites in the middle of the night after our awning flooded!”

But the rain didn’t dampen their spirits. They headed to the sunny Croatian coast, explored ancient cities like Zadar and Split, and even stayed overnight at a vineyard. Then came the highlight…

“We crossed into Bosnia – not part of the EU, so we had to sort extra van insurance. It’s still very undeveloped for tourism, but it’s absolutely beautiful. The people were just ridiculously friendly. We stayed at one campsite for three nights and the owner kept giving us free wine and cakes – a full bottle of white wine on night one, carafes every night after that!"

They also visited Mostar, home of the famous rebuilt bridge, before looping back through Slovenia (still raining!), camping by the Danube in Austria, and eventually winding their way home via Belgium and the Netherlands.

And what about Italy, you ask?

“Basically, we only went to Italy for an ice cream! We were in southern Slovenia near some caves and realised we were ten minutes from the Italian border, so we popped over to Trieste for a gelato and drove straight back!”

Now that’s what we call a road trip. And they’re already planning another big Balkans adventure next spring!

And now for the runner-ups...

🏕 Best Campsite Experience – Gary & Clare

“Zernez, Swiss National Park. Wonderful scenery, superb hiking, no development – just wild nature. Free public transport from the site to the trailheads.”

Now that’s how you do Swiss bliss!

🌲 Best Off-Grid Experience – Marion

“An evening at a friend’s glamping campsite. Douglas is in the background (inconspicuous as ever!). It’s a lovely farm with rare breed lambs to cuddle – trying to persuade them to offer campervan park-ups!”

We vote yes to cuddling lambs on future stopovers. 🐑

🏞 Most Scenic Spot – Kate

“Scotland, Loch Doon, Carrick. My friend and I did a big litter pick, much to the ranger's delight – although he didn’t bat an eyelid at being accosted by a madwoman in PJs at 5:30am asking where to leave the bin bags!”

What a story!

Until next year…

From all of us here at Orange HQ, thank you SO much to everyone who joined in, sent in a snap, or simply raised a brew to van life on the 30th. You made the very first Love Your Campervan Day one to remember! 🧡
