Kev’s last-minute road trip to the Scottish Highlands and Outer Hebrides in his Trouvaille Classique MWB Pop Top campervan is a cracking example of how spontaneous adventures often turn out to be the most memorable...
What started as a casual chat with friends quickly turned into a spontaneous adventure – complete with stunning landscapes, wild camping spots, ferry crossings, and unforgettable memories.
Read on to find out more about Kev’s journey, where they stayed, what they saw, and how the ‘van made it all possible.

How it all began
Before we dive into the trip itself, a bit about Kev and his 'van. Kev was actually the very first owner of one of our new MWB Pop Top builds – a proper milestone moment for us as well as him.
He picked up his Trouvaille Classique MWB Pop Top back in November 2024, and since then, he’s been off on his travels at every opportunity – making the most of his new home on wheels!
Here’s what he had to say when he left us a glowing Trustpilot review before collection:
"Can’t wait to pick it up!! Super excited about picking up our new MWB Trouvaille from Orange Campers! From the first time we met Richard, Sonya and Jessica, we were immediately impressed by their friendly and honest approach with no hard sell.
The high quality and thoughtful design clearly demonstrates that they use their own vans.
We hired the demo for 3 days to ensure that it was right for us, and just loved the huge space and flexibility for such a small van. It felt twice the size of many larger vans that we had looked at!
The build has taken slightly longer than planned, which was to be expected given that it is one of the first of the new design, but now it is almost complete, we are very much looking forward to many happy travels."
True to his word, he’s certainly wasted no time putting it to good use – and this Highlands trip was his most epic yet!

And now his latest adventure!
You know when your mates start planning a trip and you're like... hang on, I want in on that?
Well, that's exactly what happened to Kev.
One minute he’s chatting with his pals, the next he’s packing up his Trouvaille Classique MWB and heading off on a whirlwind adventure to the Scottish Highlands and Outer Hebrides.
There was no major planning, no booked holiday leave – just a spontaneous decision to say yes to an unforgettable road trip. And what made it even better? Kev had the perfect ‘van for the job – the Trouvaille Classique MWB Pop Top!
Kev was joined by two of his long-time friends: one towering at 6ft 5, the other at 6ft 3, and then Kev himself, a fair bit shorter (he won’t mind us saying!).
Oh, and let’s not forget the black cocker spaniel, who made himself right at home in the galley kitchen...
Instead of roughing it in tents, Kev offered up his Pop Top as the ultimate bribe to get in on the trip.
The ‘van comfortably slept all three lads: the tallest up top in the pop roof, one on a single bed below, and Kev on the other. The dog had his own spot, too, curled up down the aisle like he owned the place!

The route
Starting from the south of England, their first stop was An Torr park-up in Glen Coe – a gorgeous scenic spot to kick things off.
From there, it was onto the Isle of Skye, where they stayed two nights at Glenbrittle Campsite, nestled below the mighty Cuillin mountains.

Next up was Uig, taking in sights like the Old Man of Storr along the way, before hopping on a ferry to Tarbert in Harris.
They pitched up for two nights at the stunning Horgabost Campsite – think turquoise waters and white sandy beaches you’d never believe were in the UK!
From Harris, they nipped over to Berneray to catch the ferry to Leverburgh on Uist, where they spent a night at Balranald campsite. The weather took a bit of a turn, but spirits stayed high thanks to more incredible beaches and the comfort of the ‘van.
Then it was on to Otter's Edge Campsite in Benbecula before making their way back to the mainland via a ferry from Lochboisdale to Mallaig.

The MWB came into its own
What really stood out about this trip was just how adaptable the Trouvaille MWB Pop Top proved to be.
They didn’t need hook-ups once, thanks to the 260W solar panel keeping the battery topped up. Kev’s friend’s son (a chef, no less) had a field day cooking up meals in the camper’s kitchen. All in all, it was the ultimate adventure-mobile.
Kev told us it was a trip of a lifetime – and one he never would’ve experienced if he hadn’t had the ‘van ready to go on his driveway.
That’s what it’s all about, really. Having the freedom to say "yes" to those unexpected moments.
Whether it’s a Highland escape or a weekend at the coast, when you’ve got a campervan like this, the world’s your oyster.
