Try before you buy: book a campervan test drive at our October coffee morning

There's one thing you can only do at a coffee morning...
You can look round our 'vans at a show or an Open Day, and you can watch them being built on a workshop tour. But what you can't do at any of those is take one out on the road! That's what makes our coffee mornings different, and it's why this month we're putting campervan test drives front and centre.
We're opening the workshop doors on Friday 16th October, from 10am until 1pm. If you've been wondering what a Trouvaille is actually like to drive, this is your chance to find out for yourself, with one of the team sat right beside you.

Nervous about driving something bigger? That's what a campervan test drive is for
How a 'van drives matters to most people as much as the layout does. A campervan is meant to be about freedom and adventure, and feeling confident behind the wheel is key to a stress-free experience! Plus, if your 'van is also your everyday vehicle, it's important to feel comfortable.
For some people, the thought of driving a bigger vehicle is what holds them back from buying a campervan. If you've only ever driven a car, the idea of driving something bigger can be enough to put you off a campervan altogether, even when you love every other aspect of it.
If that sounds like you, you're in very good company. Plenty of our owners felt exactly the same before their first drive, and what surprised most of them was how car-like the MWB feels once they're behind the wheel. You sit up higher with a good view of the road ahead, and after a few minutes most people stop thinking about the size altogether.
A test drive answers the questions a brochure can't. You'll find out how comfortable the driving position is after a proper go behind the wheel, and those things are very hard to judge from a photograph, and they're what make you feel at home in a 'van.
That's why we'd rather you tried it with one of us beside you than lie awake worrying about it. There's no rush and no pressure, and you're welcome to ask the team anything along the way. If there's something in particular that's been worrying you, such as parking or tight country lanes, mention it when you request your drive and we'll talk it through with you.
We've also made a video about driving a campervan, which is well worth a watch before you come along:
The 'vans you can drive on the day
Two of our Trouvaille Classique MWBs will be available to test drive, and they happen to be the two we get asked about most.
The first is our fixed rear bed layout. It has a permanent bed at the back with generous storage underneath, so it's a popular choice for anyone who'd rather not make the bed up every night.
The second is our High Roof with a Pop Top, fitted with our new shower. The extra height inside gives it a very different feel from the fixed rear bed layout, and the shower has opened up a lot of conversations with people planning longer trips.
Both are built on the same medium wheelbase base, so whichever layout you're leaning towards, you'll come away with a good sense of how an MWB handles.

How to request your test drive
Test drives are by request, so please let us know before your visit and we'll do our best to fit you in:
Availability depends on the workshop schedule on the day, so getting your request in early gives you the best chance.

Drive one this autumn, be away in yours by spring
Every 'van we build is handcrafted to order, so the time between deciding and driving away is worth planning for. A test drive is often the moment that turns "one day" into a proper conversation about layout and specification.
If you're picturing yourself away over Easter, or on those first warm weekends of spring, ordering during the autumn gives your build time to come together. We're always happy to talk through current build timings on the day, so you'll leave knowing exactly where you stand.

The rest of the morning
Your test drive is only one part of the visit! The workshop stays fully live while you're here, so you can watch 'vans being built and ask us why things are done the way they are. It's where the design thinking and the quality of the build really show.
Our welcome area will be open all morning with a brew and a pastry waiting for you. It's also a good chance to ask what happens after you've driven away. Our promise is continuous care, long after you drive away, and we're always happy to explain what that looks like in practice.

Meet the Orange Campers team
Richard, Sonya and Jess will all be on hand throughout the coffee morning, alongside the wider Orange Campers team working in the workshop.
This is your opportunity to talk things through properly. Whether you’re curious about layouts, build choices, everyday usability or what ownership is really like, these conversations happen without feeling rushed or pressured.
You’ll also get a sense of who we are as people, not just as a campervan company. Community is a huge part of Orange Campers, and these mornings are about creating space for those connections to begin.
And yes, Jack will almost certainly be about, keeping an eye on things!
