THOUGHTS FROM THE WORKSHOP

Why Judith upgraded to the MWB Pop Top: A Happy Orange Camper’s story

ree

If there’s one thing we love here at Orange Campers, it’s catching up with our Happy Campers – especially those who’ve been with us for years and really put their vans through their paces. And Judith is one of those brilliant customers whose stories always make us smile.

She recently sat down with Richard for a proper chat about her campervan journey — from buying her very first Trouvaille SWB to now spending a full year with her MWB Pop Top.

And, as always, she’s refreshingly honest about what works, what she loves, and why she chose Orange all over again!

From her first ever van… to the one that fits her life perfectly

Judith’s campervan journey started, like many have done, with our 5-metre Short Wheelbase (which we no longer offer).

It was her first van and her only vehicle! And she absolutely loved it.

“Very easy to drive… very easy to use as my only vehicle,” she told Richard, thinking back to those early days. She travelled everywhere in it, making the most of the classic side-kitchen layout and the wide 130cm bed.

But there was one thing that eventually nudged her towards a change.

She found that big, comfy double bed a bit too heavy to lift up every morning.

So when we launched the Trouvaille Classique MWB Pop Top — complete with two easy-lift single beds, Judith began thinking that this layout might be a better match.

“When the medium wheelbase came out, and the design had two single beds, I thought, well, that's going to be ideal… obviously half the weight to lift… and the flexibility of single beds or pushing together as a double.”

It was exactly what she needed. And it's quickly become the van she uses for everything.

The joy of flexible space (and plenty of it)

Judith’s MWB Pop Top is now her everyday vehicle — so it has to work hard. And it does!

She’s taken it to cycling events, used it for long road trips, and even turned it into a cosy base for cheering on Radio 2’s Sara Cox at a local event.

She laughed with Richard as she remembered that morning: “I knew I could be nice and warm… put the kettle on… had my breakfast when I got there.”

And when Sara Cox was delayed? No stress – heater on, cuppa in hand, feet up.

That's what makes campervan life so great.

One of Judith’s favourite real-life tests came during her dad’s 24-hour charity cycle ride. Her dad slept on one bed, Judith on the other, and her husband popped himself up in the roof bed. Three adults. All comfy. All with their own space.

That’s the beauty of the MWB layout: proper flexibility without going too big.

“You can be two friends travelling… you've still got your own space.”

Storage-wise, Judith’s made full use of every nook and cranny — and she jokes it’s now “just about filled.”

Why she stayed with Orange Campers

We never take it for granted when customers choose to come back to us. And Judith’s reason for sticking with Orange Campers really warmed our hearts.

“Because you're a small personable company… everybody knows all the staff… I just know I can pick up the phone or drop an email if I’ve got any issues.”

That’s exactly what we aim for — always.

Richard reminded her of a moment from her early days as a campervan owner, when she phoned him at 10am on a Sunday because she couldn’t figure out an alarm noise.

Turned out the electric step was still out. Happens to the best of us!

But that’s the whole point. You should never sit and stress. We're here for you when you need us.

It’s that sense of community that Judith loves too: our Owners Club, our annual Campout, and the brilliant owners who support each other in true Orange style.

Everyday driving made easy

As Richard puts it, the MWB is the sweet spot: small enough to be your daily drive, but big enough to give you the space the SWB couldn’t quite manage.

Judith couldn’t agree more.

She uses it for school runs, shopping, weekends away — everything.

“I can just about get it in a supermarket car park space… because it's still my only vehicle.”

And safety-wise? She feels totally confident driving solo.

“It’s not heavy at all… so easy to drive.”

Exactly what we love to hear!

Making memories, one weekend at a time

It’s been a year since Judith collected her MWB Pop Top — and she still loves it just as much as day one.

Next up on her list? A family party where she’ll be parking up at a cricket club instead of booking a hotel.

As she told Richard, “It feels like it's your bedroom that you've brought with you.”

You can’t argue with that!

Fancy seeing it for yourself?

If Judith’s story has you imagining your own adventures, we’d love to show you around. Come over for a friendly workshop tour at our Rotherham HQ, have a brew with us, and take your time having a proper look around.

We’d love to show you what makes the MWB Pop Top so special.

And now you’ve heard Judith tell her story in her own words, why not take a look back over her year with the Pop Top?
