Before we dive in, here are a few extra winter resources you might find handy:
One of the real joys of having a campervan is the freedom to get away all year round — no cold tents, no soggy weekends, just warm, comfortable exploring whenever the mood takes you.

Winter campervan tips for cold-weather touring
Before we get into our top winter-friendly campsites, a few quick pointers to make winter touring extra comfy:
❄️ Warmth starts with a good ‘van. All Trouvailles are fully insulated, fitted with heating as standard, and designed with winter in mind (full details in the three blogs linked above).
❄️ Pick hardstanding pitches wherever possible — they stay firm in wet weather and make set-up easy.
❄️ Thermal covers and blinds help keep heat in and condensation out.
❄️ Layer up your bedding — mattress toppers work wonders.
❄️ Pack smart: hot water bottles, blankets, flasks, warm boots and chocolates (non-negotiable!).
❄️ Be winter-sensible: check your tyres, keep de-icer handy and carry a torch for those early dark evenings.
Right then. Onto the good stuff — the very best winter campervan sites the UK has to offer...
Scotland’s big sky winter wonders

Newton Farm Campsite, Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries & Galloway
If wild, rugged and peaceful is your vibe, Newton Farm Campsite is a spectacular winter stop. This family-friendly site offers direct access to its very own private sandy beach — imagine sipping your morning brew while watching winter waves roll in. Bliss!
Facilities are basic (thankfully, you have your own loo in our campervans), but the pitch area is surrounded by fields, wildlife and fresh sea air. In the evenings, you can cosy up around a firepit in the designated spots and stargaze under crystal-clear Scottish skies.
Perfect for: MWB owners who love quiet coastal touring, off-grid stays and long winter walks.
Nearby winter highlights: The SW Coastal 300 route, Kirkcudbright, Newton Stewart, peaceful beaches and coastal drives.

Drummohr Camping & Glamping Site, East Lothian
If you want all the joy of a rural winter escape with the bonus of easy access to Edinburgh, Drummohr strikes the perfect balance. Set in the grounds of an old monastery with Firth of Forth views, this site is beautifully looked after with modern heated amenities, family bathrooms and an indoor camper’s kitchen.
You can explore Edinburgh by train or bus, head along the John Muir Way or wander the East Lothian coastline — all gorgeous in the winter light. There’s even a licensed shop on site and firepits for hire if you fancy a cosy night under the stars.
Perfect for: Micro Camper first-timers, families, and anyone wanting city & coast in one trip.
Nearby winter highlights: North Berwick, the John Muir Way, Edinburgh’s Christmas markets, and East Lothian beaches.
Wales: rolling hills, wild forests and peaceful winter walks

Meadow Springs Country & Leisure Park, Powys
For a rural winter escape with great facilities, Meadow Springs is the perfect site. Set in the gorgeous Trannon Valley, this year-round campsite has everything you need for a warm, comfortable winter tour: hardstanding serviced pitches, modern heated washrooms (with family and accessible facilities), laundry, and plenty of on-site fun including crazy golf, an adventure playground and two bars — one of which is dog-friendly.
The walking here is fantastic, with nearly four miles of onsite pathways, plus easy drives to Hafren Forest, Llyn Clywedog and quaint Welsh towns. Peaceful, scenic and very well set up for cold-weather touring.
Perfect for: campervan owners who like comfort and convenience in rural surroundings.
Nearby winter highlights: Llanidloes, Newtown, Hafren Forest, Llyn Clywedog, cosy pubs in Trefeglwys and Caersws.

Cambrian Mountains Glamping & Camping, Gogoyan, Ceredigion
If your dream winter getaway includes mountain views, peaceful riverside walks and proper tranquillity, this family-run site in the Cambrian Mountains is ideal. Overlooking spectacular hill scenery and just five minutes from the River Teifi, it’s made for those who want quiet nature and a slower pace.
Facilities include showers, toilets, and laundry — plus you’re only a short drive from the coast for crisp seaside strolls. Looking out over those rugged hills, winter here feels beautifully unhurried — the kind of place where you can switch off, wander at your own pace and properly savour the stillness of the Cambrian Mountains.
Perfect for: Nature lovers, walkers, and those wanting a peaceful break off the beaten track.
Nearby winter highlights: Aberaeron, Aberystwyth, Devil’s Bridge Falls, Teifi river walks, rural pubs.
England: winter countryside, cosy pubs & peaceful lakesides

Oakhill Leisure, Lincolnshire
Here's a brilliant year-round option for those wanting space, nature and a spot of winter fishing. Set in 70 acres of woodland, fields, and a six-acre fishing lake, Oakhill Leisure gives you that peaceful “secret hideaway” feeling — ideal for a cosy winter break.
Facilities include toilets, showers, a washroom, a brand-new shower block and accessible features. The site is flat, well-drained and surrounded by hedges and trees for proper privacy. If you fancy a wander, there’s a lovely woodland loop, and Lincoln’s historic Christmas lights are a short drive away.
Perfect for: Couples, peaceful winter breaks, lakeside wanders, and keen anglers (licence required).
Nearby winter highlights: Lincoln Cathedral, Christmas markets, Newark-on-Trent, woodland walks.

Butter Hill Caravan Park, Kilburn, North Yorkshire
A small, quiet, adults-only winter site with spectacular views of the White Horse of Kilburn — and one of our favourite peaceful North Yorkshire stops. This no-fuss site has water points but no on-site toilets or showers, so it’s ideal for self-contained campervans (hello Trouvaille owners!).
The Cleveland Way is close by, there are two cosy pubs within walking distance, and the Mouseman Museum is just a couple of minutes away. No music is allowed, so you’re guaranteed a peaceful winter night’s sleep surrounded by countryside.
Perfect for: Quiet winter getaways, walkers, and MWB owners who want to explore the North York Moors.
Nearby winter highlights: Thirsk, the White Horse trail, Sutton Bank, cosy Yorkshire pubs.
