When we launched our brand new fixed rear bed layout for the Trouvaille Classique MWB, we knew it would get people talking! But we hadn't expected quite so many people to climb inside and start pointing out the little features they loved.
Some were surprised by just how spacious the layout felt. Others loved the dedicated drying room, the huge under-bed storage, or the fact that the bed is actually 6ft 5 long.

And that is exactly what we hoped for with this fixed rear bed layout. We wanted to create something that feels practical, comfortable, and genuinely easy to live with on longer trips – a campervan designed around real life on the road.
If you missed our original launch blog, sharing the full overview of everything in this layout, you can read it here: Introducing our brand new fixed rear bed layout for the Trouvaille Classique MWB.
Before we dive into the five standout features people kept talking about, you can watch Richard’s full walkthrough of the fixed rear bed layout below.

1. The 6ft 5 fixed rear bed
This was, of course, the thing that got everyone talking straight away!
A lot of people assume that if you choose a fixed rear bed layout in a medium wheelbase campervan, you have to compromise on bed length. But because we build on the Fiat Ducato and carefully use every inch of available space, we have managed to create a proper 6ft 5 transverse bed.

That means even taller people can properly stretch out comfortably!
The fixed rear bed layout also changes the whole feel of the ‘van. Instead of setting up your bed every night, you have a dedicated sleeping area that is always ready to use.
Open the rear doors on a sunny evening, sit back with a brew, and it feels like a proper bedroom on wheels.
People also loved all the thoughtful details around the bed area too, including the reading lights on both sides, the overhead roof light, the shelves, cupboards, blinds and flyscreens.

2. The dedicated drying room
As soon as people saw the drying room, they instantly understood how useful it would be for real campervan life in the UK. Wet coats, muddy boots, damp towels and walking gear all need somewhere practical to go. It's a simple idea – but really makes all the difference!
Rather than trying to squeeze a tiny shower cubicle into the ‘van, this fixed rear bed layout includes a dedicated drying room with a fitted shower base and drain.
There is a heater vent inside to help dry clothes and towels, removable hanging rails, storage above the toilet, and loads of flexibility depending on how you travel.
It is one of those features that really reflects our focus on innovation, design and quality. It's practical, simple to use, and designed for how people actually use their campervans.
3. Two clearly separated living spaces
One thing people kept saying when they stepped inside was how spacious the fixed rear bed layout felt.
At the front, you have a comfortable dinette area that feels open and sociable. Then at the rear, you have the dedicated bedroom space. This separation completely changes the feel of the campervan day to day.
One person can relax on the bed while someone else cooks or sits at the front without feeling cramped or constantly in each other’s space. It gives the whole ‘van a much more relaxed, home-from-home feel.
For many people looking for their forever ‘van, this was one of the standout reasons the fixed rear bed layout appealed so much.

4. The huge under bed storage
Then there is the storage space. Or more accurately… the amount of storage space!
Under the fixed rear bed, there is a massive garage-style storage area that people instantly started imagining themselves using: paddleboards, camping chairs, fold-up tables, barbecues, golf clubs, inflatable kayaks, Brompton bikes, dog crates... the list is endless!
The fixed rear bed layout gives you proper usable storage without compromising the living space inside the ‘van.
We've also designed optional dog gate systems for people travelling with pets, so the rear space can work brilliantly for dogs too.
Combined with the 270-degree rear doors, it creates a really practical setup for longer trips and everyday usability.
5. The kitchen and storage without compromise
One thing people often worry about with a fixed rear bed layout is losing kitchen space.
That definitely is not the case here.
People kept commenting on how usable the kitchen still feels, with loads of storage, practical worktop space, deep pan drawers, a high-level fridge freezer, overhead cupboards and clever storage ideas throughout the ‘van.
One feature people particularly loved was the built-in bottle storage on the back of the door.
It's those little details that really make a difference over time!
And because this is an Orange Campers build, quality matters in every part of the layout. The cupboards feel solid and sturdy, and everything is designed to last properly for years of trips ahead.
