THOUGHTS FROM THE WORKSHOP

What to expect when you come to a Campervan Show

campervan show

If you’ve never been to a campervan show before, you might be feeling a mix of excitement… and “what on earth am I walking into?” You’re not alone!

For many people, a show is their very first step into the world of campervans – and it can feel a bit daunting if you don’t know what to expect.

Big halls (or fields), lots of shiny ‘vans, plenty of people, and a lot of information flying around.

So we thought we’d demystify it a bit.

Here’s exactly what you can expect when you come to see Orange Campers at a show – especially if it’s your first time...

There’s no “right way” to do a show

First things, first. We want to make it clear you don’t need to know the difference between layouts, have decided what you want, be ready to buy and/or ask clever questions!

Some people arrive with a notebook and a plan. Others wander in, have a look round, and leave to have a think. Both are absolutely fine.

A campervan show is about getting a feel for things – not making big decisions on the spot. We don't like to pressure you at all, we just want to show you 'round and tell you about our 'vans. This isn't a sales pitch, we promise.

What it feels like on the Orange Campers stand

We try and make sure our area of the show feels as relaxed and friendly as possible. We also like to be very hands-on and encourage you to do the same.

So, we welcome you to:

  • step inside the ‘vans

  • open every cupboard

  • sit down properly

  • bounce on the bench seat

  • press the buttons

  • and imagine your new campervanning life!

There’s no roped-off “don’t touch” energy here. These are working ‘vans, designed to be used – and seeing how they feel in real life makes all the difference.

Who you’ll meet (and who you can talk to)

At most shows, you’ll meet Richard and Sonya, who try to get to as many as they can, along with other members of the Orange team. You’ll often see Jess, too – Richard’s daughter – who comes along to quite a few shows.

But whoever you chat to, one thing stays the same: everyone on the stand genuinely cares about what they do and knows the ‘vans inside out.

There’s no script. No pressure. Just honest conversations.

And if you definitely want to speak to Richard in particular, just get in touch – we’re always happy to try and arrange that where possible, whether at a show or another time at our workshop.

Want a feel for what it’s actually like at a show?

Here’s Richard showing the behind-the-scenes at one of our past shows – this is very much the sort of atmosphere you can expect.

It’s completely fine to take your time

One thing we always say to first-time visitors: you don’t need to do everything in one go.

Many people pop by for a quick look, some wander off to see other ‘vans and come back later with more questions and others even return the next day for another sit inside.

That’s actually the best way to do it!

Seeing a layout once is useful. Seeing it again, with fresh eyes, is even better.

If this is your first campervan show…

A little reassurance, because we see this a lot:

You might feel overwhelmed.

You might forget half the questions you wanted to ask.

You might leave thinking, “I need to let that all sink in.”

That’s completely normal.

A show isn’t about walking away with all the answers – it’s about starting to understand what matters to you.

Things like layout, space, comfort, design details, build quality and an important one: How it feels when you sit inside.

Those things are hard to judge online, and that’s why coming to a show is so valuable, as you get to really compare in real life and get a feel for it all.

If you already own a campervan

If you already own a campervan, you probably have a good idea of the little things that make a big difference when in the 'van. You may even own an Orange Camper already and be part of the family. 🧡

If you're ready to upgrade from a smaller van, thinking about your "forever 'van, or looking for better comfort or usability, we'd encourage you to come along to a show.

Being able to step inside different options and talk through how you actually travel can be really helpful – especially if you’re planning for the long term.

Seeing innovation up close

One of the biggest benefits of a show is being able to see new ideas in the flesh.

For 2026 onwards, that includes our gas-free Micro Camper – a great example of how we’re constantly refining what a compact camper can be, with modern, thoughtful design at its core.

It’s also where you’ll start to notice the quieter design developments we’ve been working on across the range, like our new shower upgrade for the High Roof Classique MWB. It’s been carefully designed to be genuinely practical and easy to live with, without eating into space or making the rest of the ’van feel compromised.

At a show, you can step inside, see how these ideas actually work day to day, and decide whether they make sense for how you travel – which is something you just can’t get from photos alone.

What else happens at campervan shows?

Most of the larger outdoor shows (like the Warners shows) are very much a full weekend experience.

Alongside the campervans themselves, you’ll usually find:

  • camping and campervanning accessories

  • food and drink stalls

  • informative talks and demos

  • family-friendly activities during the day

  • live entertainment in the evenings

If you already have a campervan, many people choose to camp on site for the weekend. You can really make it a holiday experience by spending the day exploring the show, then settling in for food and entertainment in the evening.

You can also make a proper weekend of it and explore the local area – shows are often held in great locations with plenty nearby.

A quick note on tickets

If the cost of entry is a barrier, it’s always worth getting in touch.

If you book a slot to come and speak to us at the show, we can often offer free entry as our guest.

Just drop us a message ahead of time, and we’ll let you know what’s possible.

book a workshop tour

Loved the show? Here’s what to do next

If coming to a show has whetted your appetite, the very best next step is to book a Workshop Tour.

Seeing our ‘vans at a show is brilliant. Seeing where they’re built – and how – takes that understanding to a whole new level!

A Workshop Tour lets you:

  • explore our demo ‘vans in a quieter setting

  • see the production floor

  • chat things through in more depth

  • get a real feel for our design, quality and care

It’s relaxed, informative, and gives you the space to ask all the questions that pop up after a show.

join us for our next open day

And if you can’t make it to a show at all?

Our Open Days are even better! In 2026, they’re happening on:

🧡 Sunday 14th June

🧡 Sunday 6th September

And in October, we're doing something a little different and hosting a couple of Coffee mornings, 10am - 1pm on Tuesday, 27th and Wednesday, 28th, for a more relaxed, informal, open-house-style event.

We'd highly recommend coming to an Open Day as well as a Show. They’re friendly, welcoming days at our Rotherham workshop – and a lovely way to experience the Orange community first-hand. Once you've got a taster for us at a show, an Open Day can really seal the deal for you.

If you’re thinking about coming to a show this year, we’d love to see you. Take your time, have a proper look 'round, and enjoy getting to know what life in a compact camper could look like.

When you’re ready, the kettle’s always on at the workshop.
